Writing Checkup (Grades 3–12)

Paste your writing. Roji points out long sentences, repeated words and words you lean on. You decide what to change. Roji never rewrites it.

This is an example paragraph so you can see how the checkup works.

To change your writing, edit it in the box at the top. The marks update as you type.

      Words you lean on

Ideas are choices to think about. Pick one only if it says what you mean.

      Repeated words

Names and topic words are fine to repeat. Look for ones that pile up close together.

Why won't Roji fix it for me?

Because it's your writing. Roji counts and points, the way a friend might circle a word and ask "do you mean this?" You pick the words. There is no AI in this tool, so nothing here can write for you.

What does the reading level mean?

It is an estimate from two things only: how long your sentences are and how many syllables your words have (the Flesch-Kincaid formula). It can't tell if your ideas are good. A higher number is not better. Aim for a level your reader can read easily.

Roji needs at least 50 words and 3 sentences before it will estimate.

      How Roji counts
      • A sentence ends at . ! or ?, or at the end of a line. Titles like Dr. and numbers like 3.50 don't end a sentence.
      • A sentence is called long at 25 words (grades 3–5), 30 words (6–8) or 35 words (9–12).
      • Repeated words leave out small words like "the" and "was".
      • Roji does not check spelling, grammar or facts.
